"Little Anne"

According to legend, a young girl was recovered from being dead at the end of 1800. At that time it was customary to keep the bodies of the dead and to make impressions of their faces (often for reasons of identification, since communication dies a different war then than it is today). Unfortunately, finding the girl’s identity was unsuccessful.

But the young woman’s “peaceful” face spread around the world and became known throughout Europe for its beauty and clarity. It even went so far that various families hung the facial imprint as a decorative object in their apartment.

In the middle of the 19th century, the “Rescusci Anne” was developed by the doctor Peter Safar, (as a training model for mouth-to-mouth ventilation) it should look as lifelike as possible. He uses the face of the unknown girl for the doll. He developed from the face that his grandparents had hanging in their living room and that he had always remembered as fascinated because of its beauty.
